Janssen Builders was founded in 1993 by Pete Janssen, after he came up through the Carpenters 46 Union of Northern California — cutting his teeth on commercial work like Fremont Ford and REI before apprenticing under a master builder in Lake Tahoe. That apprenticeship is where the finish-level craftsmanship that still defines our work today took root. Over three decades later, the portfolio spans 5,000–15,000 sq ft custom estates and hospitality builds like Fleming's Steakhouse and The Agenda Lounge.

What's changed is how we run the company. In partnership with industry-leading construction coach Todd DeWalt, we've rebuilt every part of our process — estimating, scheduling, selections, subcontractor coordination, communication — so clients get clarity, accountability, and zero guesswork from the first conversation through final walkthrough.

Most of our work today sits in the Bay Area's most discerning neighborhoods: Portola Valley, Atherton, Los Altos, Menlo Park, and Los Gatos. We're also expanding into Southern California, beginning with a long-term commitment to help rebuild homes in the Pacific Palisades.
